World’s most valuable Christmas tree diamond bauble unveiled

christmasbaubleA unique diamond decoration has been created, worth £82,000, called the ‘Christmas Tree Bauble.’

Hallmark Jewellers of Titchfield, Hampshire revealed the 18-karat white gold sphere set with 1,578 diamonds in a VIP gala evening at the store.

The hand pave set piece features a snowflake cut pattern with three 1-carat diamonds decorating the centre band of the sphere and two ruby encrusted rings orbiting the ornament with 188 rubies.

Its creator and Hallmark partner Mark Hussey told the Daily Telegraph: “It was never about the value of the bauble, we just wanted to do something special for Christmas. It was more about making something unique, but as we researched other amazing baubles we discovered the most expensive one was £26,874.

“We thought, why not see if we can beat it – but we were bowled over when it was valued at £82,000. It’s not really about whether we can sell it or not, we want it for a centrepiece for the shop. It would be absolutely fantastic if we could find the right person to buy it. But if I’m honest, if it’s still here on Christmas Eve I’d love to put it on our Christmas tree.”

130 hours to craft diamond bauble

The diamond bauble, which took almost a year to craft and 130 hours setting the gems, is the second decoration the company has created for the festive season.

The National Association of Goldsmiths has independently valued the gold and diamond bauble confirming the jewellers have created the most valuable Christmas tree bauble in the world.

Founded in 1979 Hallmark Jewellers began selling jewellery from showcases in local hotels and then expanded into a shop and workshop in Titchfield Village in Hampshire, specialising in contemporary designs.
