Supermodel Tyra Banks has been photographed wearing a large diamond ring in LA sparking rumours she is engaged to multi-millionaire boyfriend John Utendahl.
The 35-year-old presenter and producer of America’s Next Top Model was spotted wearing the diamond ring on her wedding finger at the Daytime Emmy Awards last week but her spokesperson later told entertainment website Gossip.com: “Tyra is not engaged – it’s her high school ring and she wears it almost every day.”
Banks who has been dating investment banker Utendahl for two years twittered: “”Hearing about crazy rumors that I’m engaged. Well, I’m not. The ‘RING’ is my high school class ring. It’s 10k gold, and has zero diamonds. Ha!”
The model, actress, and TV personality has dated actor Will Smith, golfer Tiger Woods, athlete Michael Johnson and singer Seal.
Born in Los Angeles, California, she has featured twice in People’s “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” issue, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, and Maxim; was the first black cover girl for Sports Illustrated; modelled for Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent and Tommy Hilfiger; was the face of cosmetic brand CoverGirl and body for lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret; published Tyra’s Beauty Inside and Out; and won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show.
Banks famously told the Observer: “I made my living being 20 or 30 pounds heavier than the average model. And that’s where I got famous. Victoria’s Secret said I sold more bras and panties than anybody else, and I was traipsing down that runway with 30 pounds more booty than the other girls.”
Tyra also famously feuded with supermodel Naomi Campbell for over ten years (now resolved).
