Socialite and designer Nicole Richie flashed her sparkly diamond engagement ring, estimated to be $250,000, last night at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City.
Richie confirmed on the Late Show With David Letterman she and partner Joel Madden are engaged and are planning to tie the knot this summer.
‘You’re not married yet, is that correct?’ the TV presenter asked the 28-year-old. ‘We’re not married,’ she replied.
‘Are you engaged? Are you planning to get married?’ Letterman then asked. ‘We actually recently are engaged, yes,’ she answered.
‘Oh, congratulations, that’s nice,’ Letterman replied. ‘A lot of people will have children and then they don’t want to rush right into the marriage — you know, they wait ’til the kids get out of college, then they get married.’
Fiance, Madden has since Tweeted: ‘Yep, I’m engaged. Very happy.Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But thanks for the hoopla all the same.’
Last year, The Simple Life reality TV star said there was no rush to wed, saying: ‘I think for both of us, we are going to do it because we want to, not because that’s what you do. We’re going to do it when the time’s right.’
The celebrity couple have been in a relationship for three years and have two children, two-year-old daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden, and five-month-old baby son Sparrow James Midnight Madden.
