The front bezel was set with 136 flawless diamonds at 68 carats and the Apple logo itself was created with another 53 diamonds on the back. And the front navigation button was made from a single seven-carat diamond.
Designer Stuart Hughes, from Merseyside took ten months to make the phone with almost 200 diamonds and told The Daily Telegraph: “The Iphone is the phone with the most tricks on the market. What possibly could we do to trick it up more? Bless it with the finest precious metal and jewels. Most of the ten months was spent trying to source the diamond for the navigation button.”
The diamond-set phone was commissioned by an anonymous Australian businessman. It comes in an exclusive 7kg chest made from a single block of granite and Kashmir gold with a Nubuck leather lining.
Apple announced the launch of the iPhone in January 2007 and it was introduced in the United States at the end of June 2007 before being marketed worldwide. Time magazine named it the Invention of the Year. The iPhone 3G was launched a year later. It supports faster 3G data speeds and assisted GPS.
The iPhone 3GS was then announced this year on June 8. It has a improved performance, a camera with more megapixels and video capability, and voice control.
